Tamika D. Mallory Social Justice Leader, Movement Strategist, Author
About the Author
Tamika Mallory is a trailblazing social justice leader, movement strategist, globally recognized civil rights activist, and cofounder of Until Freedom and the historic Women’s March. She served as the youngest executive director of the National Action Network. Her speech in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis—entitled “State of Emergency”—was dubbed “the speech of a generation” by ABC News. Mallory is an expert in the areas of gun violence prevention, criminal justice reform, and grassroots organizing.
Her upcoming memoir, I Lived to Tell the Story, is a powerful and heartfelt narrative of perseverance and triumph over tragedy that spans from Mallory’s childhood in Harlem to her unwavering front-line political activism. In her previous book State of Emergency, a searing indictment of America’s historical, deadly, and continuing assault on Black and brown lives, she draws on her own experiences to share the keys to effective activism both for those new to and long-committed to equal justice.
In her keynotes, Mallory offers actionable and inspiring strategies for creating social and political change, while rallying audiences to fight for equal rights for all peoples. Her talks are laced with a strong passion for justice and activism, as well as an impressive knowledge for the American criminal justice system and its fallacies. Her compelling and eye-opening words have awed audiences across the country.
Mallory is currently the president of Mallory Consulting, a strategic planning and event management firm in New York City. She is on the board of directors for Gathering for Justice, an organization aimed at ending child incarceration and policies that produce mass incarceration. She also helped create the NYC Crisis Management System, a gun violence prevention program that awards $20 million annually to gun violence prevention organizations.
